Usergroups & permissions

Control who can do what with MyBB usergroups.

MyBB controls access through usergroups (Registered, Moderators, Administrators, plus any you create). Permissions are set per group and can be overridden per forum.

In the ACP, go to Users & Groups → Groups.
Edit a group to set global permissions (posting, PMs, attachments…), or add a new group.
For per-forum control, use Forums & Posts → Forums → [forum] → Permissions.

Group Promotions (Users & Groups → Group Promotions) can move active members between groups automatically.
